LOCATION: Villa Mit Rihan, PHOTOGRAPHY: Sherifa Hamid ASSISTANTS: Ingy Tarek, Salah Hassan

Ba’s latest work is placed in the residential Villa Mit Rehan designed by renowned Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy near Sakkara. Photographer Sherifa Hamid is recognised for her visual sensitivity to light and shadow within the architecture and interiors realm.

Completed in the 1980s, the stone haven is an architectural landmark with notable features; domes, mashrabiya and stained glass windows, a desirable setting for Ba’s new collection. The latest handmade rugs and tapestries comprise of predominately earthy tones that blend with the building’s materials.

Hamid captured the natural light trickling onto the tapestries through mashrabiyya. Domed windows, harmonised with the curves of the pieces.

The space holds a spiritual quality as the architect has been known to apply sacred geometry to his work. Fathy recognised the spirituality derived from the relationship between man and material, the same can be said about weaving.
